Since 2002, Colloquial Theater has been giving students the opportunity to create challenging productions. Functioning as a unique arts education initiative, Colloquial Theater gives students complete access to all aspects of the production process. Colloquial Theater has provided opportunities for 100+ young artists Ð in direction, performance, choreography, music composition (and direction), theatrical design, stage management, filmmaking, playwriting, dramaturgy, education, marketing, development, and administration.
By providing an environment where young artists work almost exclusively with their peers, Colloquial Theater encourages an unparalleled degree of collaboration. Company members are able to develop their skills and experiment with new artistic methods. Colloquial Theater introduces students to career options and assists them in establishing contacts in the industry. Colloquial Theater also generates sociopolitical commentary through the arts Ð addressing important issues relevant to our target audience.
