Inside Erie

Goode-ness Gracious!

By Dan and Alison Tingley

A Very Goode Christmas is a Festival of Adult, Holiday Plays by Jeff Goode. And they do mean Adult. And Holiday. And Goode. The show is at PACA (1505 State Street, Erie, PA). For those of you who are GPS-ing it there, no, we do not know the zip code, and no, we are not inclined to look it up for you. Show a little initiative.

Directed by Jeff Rodland, the show is comprised of several short plays with some differences from night to night. They're mixin' it up over at the PACA. The audience will get stories of the suffering of Santa's reindeer, a quick version of Scrooge's story (directed by Jerry Brace), a letter to Santa, a look into the very first Christmas, and other interestingly hilarious takes on some of our favorite Christmas stories.

Without being able to really give you a plot, let us just say that these short plays are well done, well directed, well written, and freakin' hilarious. OMG! They made us LOL until we were about ready to POP (pee our pants - it's new. Feel free to use it. You're welcome.)

There are too many fantastic performances to count in this show. Everything that we saw was wonderful. This stellar cast includes Aaron Pacy, Jerry Gill, Dominic DelGreco, Linda Kemp, Scott Frisina, Christine Sanner, Sean Morgan, Kelly Rodland, Howard Savoy, Alex Bolla, Lara Schaaf, Jason Fried, Tammy Blount, Laurie Savoy, and Jeff Rodland. Those were the ones we saw. Additional cast members include Ken Falkenhagen, Erica Heilmann, and Dennis Rodland.

Though we didn't see every play because we could only attend one show, we predict that the ones we missed are also well worth seeing.

A Very Goode Christmas runs on weekends at PACA through December 8. If you're up for laughing until you're sides ache, go see it. If you're not, there will probably be some reruns of The Andy Griffith Show this weekend. While that would certainly be more wholesome, it won't be as much fun. Warning: the show contains some strong language and adult themes that some might find offensive. Also, it is a really good idea to get there early to make sure you get a seat.
