The UBU Plays
The Department of Theatre presents The UBU Plays, adapted by Jeff Goode based on Ubu Roi by Alfred Jarry, directed by Christopher Marino with guest costume design by Melanie Freebairn and student set design by Peter Wood.
Considered outrageous when first performed at the Théâtre de luvre in 1896, Ubu roi broke with tradition to bring about a less formal style and reverent style of theatre. The staging conventions that were broken with Ubu roi have helped feed the imaginations of designers and directors alike. This production will be about bold energy with physical and vocal extremes.
Admission: $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors, $3 for the preview. Ticket proceeds benefit the Department of Theatre Scholarship Fund.
The performance on Thursday, October 20th is free to the UMBC campus community (students, faculty and staff).
Patrons may purchase tickets using a credit card through MissionTix (beginning fall 2005). Patrons who would prefer to pay by cash or check may make a reservation through the Theatre Box Office at 410-455-2476.
