FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

POONA THE FUCKDOG AND OTHER PLAYS FOR CHILDREN

Cherry Red to present staged reading of Jeff Goode's definitely-not-for-children parody at Metro Café, Sunday, May 7th

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 14, 2000) - Poor Poona! She's the star of her very own super-cute children's play and still, no one will play with her. Even the handsome prince only punches her in the gut. Why? Well, she's working fuckdog for one thing. And her parents are divorced, too.

But Poona's luck is about to change. In the twinkling of an eye, Poona's fairy god penis comes to the rescue, bestowing her with a beautiful pink box--big enough for all her friends to play in!

Welcome to the magical Kingdom of Do and the lovable, outrageous world of Jeff Goode's Poona the Fuckdog and Other Plays for Children. Best-known to Washington theatregoers for his The Eight: Reindeer Monologues (staged by Source Theatre in 1996), Goode's parody of children's theatre was a hit Off-Broadway in December 1999.

The reading--with movement and minimal costume--will be directed by Cherry Red's artistic director, Ian Allen, and will feature luminous-luscious dragstress Lucrezia Blozia as the show's titular everymutt. Poona the Fuckdog and Other Plays for Children will be presented at the Metro Café on Sunday, May 7th at 8:00 p.m. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Admission is $10. Metro Café is located at 1522 14th St., N.W. For more information, call (202) 675-3071.
