+++++++++++++

As Monty Python once put it, "The world today seems absolutely crackers." And anger is probably the only correct response. Sometimes anger blows up a building. Sometimes it poisons a neighbor. And sometimes it just eats away at your poor little motherf*cking heart. But one thing it does without fail It makes Cherry Red smile.

ANGER BOX, a collection of nine new monologues by Jeff Goode, takes a look at anger and the absurdly funny forms it can take in America.

The workshop production - with movement and some costumes - will be spearheaded by four directors: Cherry Red fave Rick Fiori (BLUEBEARD, ZOMBIE ATTACK!); Project Y Associate Artistic Director Sam Elmore; Phoenix Theatre's Bridget O'Leary, who directed for our DAY-OLD PLAYS 02; and Cherry Red's artistic director, Ian Allen, who directed POONA.

  • Casseroles. Immigrants. The Pope. God. Cars. Clinics. Satan. Neighbors. Santa Claus. What's not to get pissed about?!

    And what better time than Christmas to wrestle with the big issues? Specifically the God Question. Jeff Goode (Poona the Fuckdog and Other Plays for Children, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues) jumps headlong into the fray with this series of ten little monologues where everyone has something to say. From the Virgin saving herself for the Pope ("Not just any pope. The current pope. 'Cause no way I'm fucking a dead man."), to Nike (formerly ranked number 1 deity in the world 79 weeks in a row, now unseated by Jesus), everyone's got an axe to grind. And where is God when you need him?!

    Michelle T. Hall (Middle Finger for ASIA, Nighthawks at Studio SecondStage) makes her Cherry Red directing debut with this world premiere production. The cast will feature Kathleen Akerley, Ian Allen, Kate Debelack, Tony Greenberg, Monique LaForce, Jason Milner, Jenny Morris, Glee Murray, Otis Ramsey-Zše, and Yan Xi.

  • TheatreZone celebrates the holidays by wrestling with the big issues- Specifically the God Question: is God real? is God watching? what are we doing in God's name? and did the Virgin Mary really appear on the freezer door?? Jeff Goode (author of TheatreZone favorites The Eight:Reindeer Monologues and Poona the F%#kdog) jumps headlong into the fray with ten hilarious new angry monologues featuring everything from the sanctimonious to the sacrilegious- and the result is daring, offensive, twisted, fresh, funny, and surprisingly poignant.

    Anger Box is our second production in our new performing arts center, the Chelsea Theatre Works. Performances of Anger Box by Jeff Goode are November 20-December 13, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:00pm at the Chelsea Theatre Works, 189 Winnisimmet St., Chelsea.
