Once Christmas has passed, and the cheer subsided,
A nasty rumour has the public divided.
At the North Pole all hell breaks loose,
When accusations fly, of sexual abuse.
Find out if all this is just slander,
Or if the reindeer really do have some candor.
As Vixen speaks up, and so does Donner,
It seems that Santa is finally a goner.
But as Comet stands to his defence,
The atmosphere becomes most tense.
Hear Blitzen, Cupid, Hollywood and Dancer,
And Dasher, their leader, each give their own answer.
So come along to Gallows Productions next show,
And see if you'll be left with any HO HO HO.

THE MUSIC VALLEY EVENT CENTER PRESENTS
JEFF GOODE'S THE EIGHT: REINDEER MONOLOGUES,
PRODUCED BY SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT WITH SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

Show runs November 26th and every Friday and Saturday in December until December 17th.

Music Valley Event Center continues its newly launched "After Dark" series of shows with The Eight: Reindeer Monologues by Jeff Goode, which features eight actors as Santa's reindeer dishing about the real Kris Kringle. All those rumors you've heard about him and the elves? About Rudolph's little secret? About Vixen's story that was leaked to the press? The bucks and does tell their side, and it's not always pretty. This is a holiday show with attitude!

With Zach Parker taking the role of the flamboyant Cupid and Angela Gimlin portraying the saucy Vixen, the cast also includes Andrea Michelle Crowe as unwavering Blitzen, Austin Jeffrey Smith playing Dasher (the leader), Michael Rex as the loyal to a fault Comet, David Williams in the heartbreaking role of Donner, Kathryn Sutton as rattled reindeer Dancer and Matt Smith as the arrogant "Hollywood" (Prancer).

The show, which is for 18+, opens November 26th, 2016 and plays every Friday and Saturday night at Music Valley Event Center through December 17th. Doors open at 10 PM and all performances begin at 10:30 PM. Beer, wine and snacks will be available for purchase. Dinners are not offered. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased by calling Music Valley Event Center at 615-902-9566. Patrons may also purchase tickets at the door. Music Valley Event Center is located at 2416 Music Valley Drive, Suite 150. Opryland seasonal traffic is heavy, so patrons are advised to allow extra travel time. More details about the show and other Music Valley Event Center productions are available at missjeannes.com.

Are you looking for a Christmas show with attitude? Are you ready to gag at the thought of another rendition of A Christmas Carol? Well, this is the script for you: eight reindeer dishing about the real Santa. Yes, the reindeer finally speak up and - believe us - they do not hold back! Eight: The Reindeer Monologues is not your mother's Christmas pageant, but this MVEC AFTER DARK comedy is bawdy fun! Something very wrong just happened at the North Pole.

Santa's eight flying reindeer are an elite team wreathed in magic on December 24th but it's a different story the other 364 days of the year. After an unspeakable act is alleged, long time resentments and deep dark secrets are exposed to the light as The Eight Reindeer confess what they know. And what they don't know.

FB post 12/12/19 from Sydney Genco to accompany character photos:

Let's do a little #tbt shall we? Maybe some story time as well?

This production is also quite timely for the season, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues by Jeff Goode.

Without a doubt, one of the most exhilarating, and TERRIFYING, shows I've ever makeup designed. I was lucky enough to also be an actor in this show (peep me as Vixen, as you scroll through!)

My dear friend Cheryl Snodgrass directed this production, and I believe it was her 5th or 6th time doing so. She told me she wanted me to design and dream BIG, shake it up...so I went for it! Each reindeer had a particular design, researched down to species, to compliment their story.

I was so confident, until I went to present the designs to the director, and immediately started back-tracking. These were ELABORATE makeups to teach, and I was SO worried the actors would HATE ME for giving them an hour of makeup for their character's 10 minute monologue. I started telling her how I could simplify, that these were just ideas, etc...and she basically told me to shut up and stop trying to make my own big ideas small. BLESS HER, because without her PUSH to lean into my own creativity, I would've scaled all these back, and never gotten the original, specific, and frankly (if I should be allowed to toot my own horn) gorgeous makeups that ended up making me SO PROUD! The actors did NOT disappoint, and all took their makeup so seriously, it made my grinch heart happy! ??

So here they are, in the order you know from the song: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

SCHOOL OF THEATRE HOSTS RAUNCHY CHRISTMAS READING
    by Sage Tokach

The School of Theatre will host a reading of The Eight: Reindeer Monologues at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Black Box theater in Wanda L. Bass School of Music.

Written by Jeff Goode, the play tells the story of Santa and the North Pole from the reindeer's perspective. Each reindeer gets their own monologue, but they never speak in dialogue.

    D. Lance Marsh, professor of acting and head of performance, is directing the reading. Instead of rehearsing together, each actor was given one 30-minute time slot to work with Marsh. The actors were given the text of their monologue but not the full script.

Mia McGlinn, acting sophomore, said she was excited to portray “Dancer” in the reading.

“It's almost like a Hollywood exposé, where the reindeer are stumbling over each other to get their own story known,” McGlinn said. “Some support Santa, and some are in denial.”

Jonathan May, acting junior, said audiences should get excited for a raunchy show.

“Imagine if Santa was Sandusky, and Rudolph was the football player.”

    Fridays & Saturdays @ 7:30 p.m.

Ready for a night of grownup comedy? Leave the kids at home and join us for an evening of raucous laughter! ACTS proudly presents the dark Christmas comedy, "The Eight: Reindeer Monologues" by Jeff Goode, followed by "Santa's Rebuttal", an original ACTS monologue. Performances will be December 9, 10, 16 and 17 at Suite 208 at Shoppes of Seymour.

Scandal erupts at the North Pole when one of Santa's eight reindeer accuses him of sexual harassment. As mass media descends upon the event, the other members of the sleigh team demand to share their perspectives, and a horrific tale of corruption and perversion emerges, which seems to implicate everyone from the littlest elf to the tainted Saint himself. With each deer's confession, the truth behind the shocking allegations becomes clearer and clearer. . . and murkier and murkier.

To top the evening off, in an original ACTS monologue, Santa Claus himself will make an appearance to make his own testimony. If you think you've been good enough (or bad enough), come see old Saint Nick make his stand after the Eight have had their say!

Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. each night, and the show will start at 7:30. Tickets are $10/person and can be ordered in advance by calling or texting 812-498-2127 or purchased at the door. Seating is limited to 50 patrons per show. Concessions will be available for purchase before the show. There will be no intermission. This show is rated "M" for mature audiences due to language and adult themes.

"The Eight: Reindeer Monologues" by Jeff Goode is being produced with the permission of SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

Our next production will be Jeff Goode's "THE EIGHT: Reindeer Monologues"! This is a Christmas reader's theatre with strong language and adult themes, so take an evening to leave the holiday trappings behind and join us for a hilariously good time. While some of the parts have been pre-cast, we will also be holding open auditions this Sunday, November 6, from 5:00-6:00pm (remember to fall back!) at our new home, 357 Tanger Blvd, Suite 208. If you would like to audition but cannot make this time, please call or text 812-498-2127 to arrange a private audition time. The FB event for the performances is forthcoming, so keep an eye out!
