Join two of the Valley's talented actors for readings of two one-act plays via Zoom, as part of Cushman Library's programming in support of the of Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Theatre and all art forms can be the salvation of civilization, and plays that make us laugh can uplift spirits at any time.
We'll start with "But I'm French," a one-act romantic comedy about a guy who wakes up believing he's French, and annoys his girlfriend to no end by speaking in fake French, written by Terry Roueche.
Then, enjoy , a 10-minute swashbuckle and fisticuff for two actors, one of them female, written by Jeff Goode.
Jerri and Nick will join in conversation with the audience about theatre, what it can bring to life for actors as well as viewers, and how it can range from comedic relief to societal commentary. If any audience members have read Station Eleven, we can talk about what the traveling theatre company and orchestra means to the communities they visit and perform for, as well as the feelings of comradery, friendship, and family that develop among people who perform together.
