Four comic one-acts! #1. A guy tries to renew his drivers license but faces a DMV clerk who gets way too personal in her questions. #2. A comic encounter between a bear and a dog who has chased it up a tree. #3. A young pirate boards a ship and in battling a pirate wench finds that they have an unexpected connection. #4. A murder mystery by student Ashley Holloran features an inept detective who tries to discover the murderer of a rich old lady among a motley assortment of relatives and employees. Tickets available at the door or Iola Pharmacy one week before showtime.
Taylor McAcoy Hartford is directing "Jolly Jack Junior," written by Jeff Goode. The pirate story unfolds as a 15-year-old boy diligently searches for the mother, who tossed him out at sea, only to be disappointed with their reunion."I have always been interested in pirates and I thought it would be a fun one-act to do because it is like a comedy and drama mix," McAcoy said. "It begins one way and ends in a completely different scenario."
This is the first time she has directed and she said the biggest challenge has been getting the actors to rehearsals on time.
